I'm excited to announce some changes we've made to how contacts are
organized. If you're using the newer version of Gmail, you may have
noticed a few new default contact groups in your list: My Contacts and
Suggested Contacts.
The bottom line? Gmail will still save all of the addresses you use,
but all the ones you really care about will show up in My Contacts,
and you won't ever have to look at Suggested Contacts if you don't
want to.
Let us know what you think of the new contact groups here!

But a suggestion to reduce the threshold limit to 3 from 5. Because
it’s nice to see contact suggestion for people we rarely in contact
with. And emailing 5 times might be a difficult thing for people who
doesn’t have time to create their contact list.

This is GREAT news!
The new feature turns Gmail more friendly to synchronize with other
applications. To make it perfect, I suggest to synchronize only "My
Contacts" info with them... I tried to synchronize Gmail contatcs with
Address Book (Mac) now but came *all* the contacts... Only "My
Contacts" would be perfect in situations like that ;)

Agreeing with everyone else that this is an awesome feature, but that
other programs (Address Book, iPhone) should only sync with My
Contacts. Thanks for the hard work, Google!

Fantastic idea - I would consider syncing my iphone to this. However,
I can't move someone from my contacts to my suggested contacts. What
if I still want them around somewhere, but I want to "archive" them
into that basket.
Scenario: someone gets added from suggested, but I realize it's a
mistake. Then I have to delete them (forever!).
I certainly would like to have some addresses for long-term storage,
but not in any contacts list that I use on a regular basis.

I may be wrong but it seems when you go to contacts the default view
is now 'My Contacts'. I thought before it was 'most contacted.' I
liked that way much better before.

I don't see a way to remove people from a particular category without
deleting them from the contacts entirely ... ? "My contacts" started
with 200 people in there. I'd like to remove people from that list and
leave the suggested contacts bloated with all the junk. I don't get
this design, basically. Confusing.

How about an option to merge different contacts together. I have
different contacts entry for same person because they use different
email IDs. This happened because of auto add.
