I have a hosted account with gmail, where my email address is
[email address]
I cannot access this account with my voyager. I am directed to a page
that says ActiveX controls need to be activated, or I can switch to
HTML view. If I click the link to HTML view, I am asked to log in from
the gmail home page, and cannot log in to my hosted account.
Let's see if we can't take away the frustration and make you a happy
voyager! :o)
There are several options for accessing your Google hosted email via
mobile devices, such as via the downloadable Mail by Google app, on
the mobile browser, and via IMAP/POP. This Help article presents step-
by-step instructions each method: http://www.google.com/support/a/bin/answer.py?answer=39374&topic=14872

For the first option, the URL does not correctly detect the Voyager as
a phone. The Javascript page actually crashes the phone (not really
Google's fault, but still annoying). I can force the HTML interface by
appending ?format=html to the query string but that page is not
correctly sized for this phone and is therefore displayed oddly. There
needs to be a ?format=mobile option for phones which are not sniffed
correctly.
For the second option, the Voyager is not a J2ME phone.
For the third option, the Voyager is not a Blackberry.
I think I ?format=mobile option would fix things right up.

I didn't realize how widespread this problem was until transferring my
Verizon service from the Bay area to San Diego and no longer being
able to use Gmail on my LG Voyager. Since then, I have read numerous
posts regarding this problem. In December 2007, I purchased a Voyager
to access my email on the go. It has worked well using Google
searches and keeping up with clients. Apple makes a great product
(iPhone) but switching from Verizon to Cingular/AT&T just wasn't
something I ever wanted to do. I've been with VZ doe more than 7
years and have loved it.
In short, I have been able to connect to Gmail for the past 6/7
months. Now that we relocated to San Diego I click on my bookmark
(Gmail.com) and complete the logon only to watch the phone restart.
This is rediculous and needs to be fixed. The folks at the Verizon
store thought it might be my Voyager so they transferred all of my
contacts to a brand new Voyager phone and I still have the issue. In
the process they have also put the most current sofyware on the phone.
Please email or post a resolution to this issue. There is no point in
paying VZ for VCast if I can't use the product as I need for my
business.

I came across this link online a couple weeks ago while browsing
Google's Mobile website and simply saved the URL on my Voyager phone.
I have tested it and it works flawlessly. Whether it is Java
scripting or other changes neither www.gmail.com or http://mail.google.com will only send your Verizon Voyager into a restart mode.
Technology is supposed to aid our lives right?
Hope this helps my fellow Voyager (anti-iPhone) users out there. :)

This restart of Voyager was annoying, I have google hosted email
account, and had been trying for the last three days, but finally the
following worked for me:
1) On your Voyager: Select Browser-->Menu-->Settings-->JavaScript--
>Turn JavaScript off
2) Menu-->Go to WWW-->mail.google.com/a/yourorganizationaddress.com
3) Sign in, and select basic HTML view (which does not require
JavaScript)
4) Voila, you are in
