Subject: SYNC ISSUE with WM6.1 IMAP and Deleted Items
I have a Samsung i760.

For the last year:
WM6 with IMAP Gmail
When I deleted an email on the phone it was moved to the "Deleted
Items" label and synced as such. The email had the "Inbox" label
removed and was only seen in the "Deleted Items" label in Gmail, and
reflected the same on the mobile phone.

After upgrading to the official WM6.1 upgrade, I configured IMAP Gmail
and everything is working great except deleting email from the phone.
If I delete email on the phone, it is re-labeled as "Deleted Items"
and is not seen in the Inbox. I do a send/receive, and then look in
Gmail. The email is still showing in the Inbox and nothing in
"Deleted Items".

All of a sudden, something is preventing the Inbox/Deleted Items
lables/folders on the phone to not properly sync. I have tried
deleting the account and recreating it several times. I have tested
moving and relabeling several other emails and there doesn't seem to
be a problem with them.

I'd like the emails I delete to sync back to Gmail from my phone that
they were deleted/relabeled.

Thanks!

Try remapping your IMAP sent folder so that it receives the deleted
email.

huh?

Can you give instructions please?

Windows Mobile does not have the option to "remap" any folders.

As a follow-up:

I got home and got a chance to fire up my WM6 and WM6.1 emulators. I
configured both for IMAP Gmail and configured them exactly as I have
my phone configured now.

Both WM6 and WM6.1 are exhibiting the same problem so I don't think
this is specific to the upgrade. Again, the problem is that anything
deleted on the phone is put in the "Deleted Items" label, but the sync/
change never happens in Gmail. In Gmail, the mail still sits in the
Inbox with no change.

Any ideas?

I do not see any problems with any of my clients, but I do not have a
WM device, so I cannot address that directly.

I am also having this problem. This is new, and only cropped up in
the last few days. I've been running 6.1 since June with no
problem.

Starting within the last few days, if I delete a email from my inbox
on my phone, the item is left untouched when I log into gmail.

Glad to hear this isn't just me. I've been trying to find a support
number for Google to call them directly, but so far I have found
nothing

Anybody else? Maybe someone has fixed this?

I had exactly the same problem with a director's PDA (HTC something-or-
other, Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional) at work. I was able to get the
server to recognise emails that were deleted from the handset by
hitting the Menu | Tools | Empty Deleted Items
command on the PDA.

Evidently when an email is deleted from a PDA/smartphone, it's just
'tagged' as deleted and is only refreshed on the server when emptying
the deleted items.

To sort this out permanently we had to change the setting Menu
| Tools | Options | Storage | Empty Deleted Items: to either
'immediately' or 'on connect/disconnect'

Hope this helps...
