Attempts to download or send mail are failing. You might get a message
about how your credentials aren't valid, or your email client might
keep asking you for your password, over and over. You've already
checked that POP or IMAP is enabled in your Gmail Settings, your email
client is completely updated, and you're certain that your email
client's configuration matches the instructions in the Gmail Help
Center, down to the last screenshot. Still, you're stuck.
Luckily, you might be able to resolve this problem by clearing the
CAPTCHA. To clear the CAPTCHA, follow these steps:
1. Disable all mail clients you're using to read mail. (If you use one
at work and one at home, please disable both.)
2. From the computer or device on which your logins are failing, clear
the CAPTCHA.
--- For Google Apps users, use this address:
https://www.google.com/a/[YOURDOMAIN.COM]/UnlockCaptcha
*Be sure to replace [YOURDOMAIN.COM] with your actual domain name.
Include everything after the "@" in your email address. For example,
if your email address is "yourname @ wildblue.net," you will put
"wildblue.net" into the URL: https://www.google.com/a/wildblue.net/UnlockCaptcha
3. Enter your email username and password, and the letters in the
distorted picture.
4. Once you have successfully logged in, restart your mail client and
try to download your mail.

The CAPTCHA thing works, but I'm having to do it every few hours. Any
ideas?
I'm using an AT&T Tilt, running Windows Mobile 6, and using IMAP on
the stock e-mail client. IMAP is enabled in my Gmail account
settings, both online and on my phone. The client is set to check my
Gmail account every 60 minutes.

Ok, I have had to do this every second or third time I get my mail!
What's going on?! I just started having this problem three days ago
and it works for about two or three times but then I get locked out
again! I only check this address on this computer and then only about
four times a day, but this is getting frustrating!!
Thanks a lot, it seems to have solved my problem (described here:
http://groups.google.com/group/Gmail-POP-and-Forwarding/browse_thread...).
However we need to find a way to prevent it from locking down again,
because every time it will lock, the developers would not receive
check-in notifications, that my script sends through out app domain
smtp account.

I'm getting intermittent login failures via IMAP on a gmail account.
This seems to mostly be occuring over the last few days.
Resetting captcha doesn't seem to help, and when it occurs it appears
to affect multiple clients
Also at this time the google home page usually shows "information
currently unavailable" in the google mail portlet, although normally
will then bring up the gmail website.
THANKS! you just solved my problem of trying to get my gmail synched
up to my Blackberry! We've all been scratching our heads over this
one (including the Orange Network!!!)

We're aware that some of you may need to unlock the CAPTCHA
repeatedly, and we're working to resolve this issue. In the meantime,
make sure that no other computers or devices are downloading your
mail. Also, if you're using POP, make sure that your email client only
checks for new messages every ten minutes. While we recognize that
many of you access your mail from different devices (and think that
this is perfectly reasonable), frequently accessing your mail from
multiple devices can look "suspicious" to us when combined with other
factors, so limiting your connections is a good place to start
troubleshooting.
Just a Daisy, I see that you're only using one computer, and it sounds
like you're not checking your mail too frequently, so I would suggest
changing your password.

No problem receiving and have tried all the suggestions provided in
the Gmail Troubleshooting and Help to try to rectify the problem.
Additionally I've turned off Pop Up window blocking and here's the
message I keep getting:
The host 'stmp.gmail.com' could not be found. Please verify that you
have entered the server name correctly.
Subject 'Re: dinner tomorrow or not?', Account: 'imap.gmail.com',
Server: 'stmp.gmail.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes,
Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D
Can you please help me resolve this? Thank you very much

This didn't work for me at all. HELP!!! Anyone?
I've tried clearing the CAPTCHA twice today and spent hours trying to
reconfigure today to get it to work to no avail.
