Still having problems sending/receiving from Outlook since yesterday
afternoon.  Getting this error in Outlook:
Task 'Home Gmail - Receiving' reported error (0x80042108) : 'Outlook
is unable to connect to your incoming (POP3) e-mail server. If you
continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or
Internet service provider (ISP).'

I am having a problem sending gmail from outlook express. I have
checked all the settings, downloaded the troubleshooter which verified
the settings and connection. But, when I try to send an email. I get a
message saying Email could not be sent, you do not have any accounts
configured for sending email, please verify you account information.
Apologies in advance if the is not the correct forum but I have
exhausted all other avenues. Can anyone help. BTW I can recieve emails
without problem. Thanks in advance.

I have disabled POP and IMAP and gmail continues to fetch all of my
email from my other email account. Any suggestions? Thank you.

This information is useless.
As you might notice, this thread has been on going for months, Gmail
is screwed up when it comes to POP.
The only way that I can get Thunderbird to DL emails is to go into my
Gmail settings and click on "Enable POP for all mail (even mail that's
already been downloaded)".
The settings cannot be saved, I need to redo it every time I log in.
So what's the use of having POP settings with Gmail if I have to go to
Gmail every time I want to DL emails?

What are you trying to do, and how does it fail?

Gmail's POP only downloads each message once, but that is normally
sufficient, because Thunderbird and and other POP clients store the
messages on your computer.
Resetting "Download all" results in downloading the same messages
again.  It is not necessary for downloading new messages.
* The exception is when you want to download messages to multiple
devices, or for devices, like some phones, that do not store the
messages.  In either of those cases, you can use 'recent mode':

Gpop in 'recent mode' works almost exactly like traditional POP
servers, except that only the messages from the last thirty days are
available.
