Okay, so I tried to follow all blogger's directions about CNAMES and
so on. But none of that made any sense when I was faced with Telivo's
control panel. What they did offer as masked redirection, which is
what I chose. I then went to settings/publishing from Blogger's
dashboard, and have entered the name of the custom domain, and checked
redirect for www.headoflegal.com.
Marvellous. Except that some things don't work. External links seems
fine, as does the link to my profile. But if I click on an individual
post title (do you call that a permalink?) my browser, Firefox, tells
me it can't find the server at headoflegal.com. The same thing happens
if I click on a label or on an entry in the archive.

Masked redirection doesn't work - only "CNAME" referral works with any
reliability. I can't help you with the Telivo control panel - that's
between you and the Telivo support staff. My tutorial will show you
what your "CNAME" DNS records must look like, after you are done.

Once you get the custom domain setup properly, with the blog published
to the custom domain URL, posts, labels, and archives will transfer
transparently. You just have to setup the custom domain.
Unfortunately Telivo's site tells me this in its FAQ section:
"Can I modify my CNAME records through Telivo?
Unfortunately Telivo cannot offer custom CNAME records with either our
domain name registrations or hosting packages."
So I need to transfer my domain name to some other company, I guess?
What a stupid hassle! And how do i do that, if I'm not buying hosting?

And Nitecruzr, would you recommend who I could sensibly transfer to?
Obviously it needs to be a company that WILL be able to work properly
with blogger... but I'm also considering a move to using Wordpress in
the future, so ideally I'd find a resitrar for my domain name who'll
work well with both and with migrating.
