Description: Discussion of written science fiction and fantasy.

Ender in Exile background assistance requested.
It's been so long since I have read the original 4 Ender Books, and re- read Ender's Game itself a few years later, that I have forgotten how much of what I am reading in the new Ender in Exile is just an expansion of what was previously discussed in the earlier books. So far in my reading, Ender has just landed on the former bugger... more »

Science fiction hunt: No one ever dies
I read once a science fiction story which postulates that no one ever dies. As any one person dies, their consciousness leaps to a less- likely version of themselves which lives on. However, there’s no conflict if other people die, so everyone ends up permanently alone and end up mad because of it. It was written in a very direct style,... more »

Girl Genius, December 3, 2008
Again we have the Foglios to thank for the benificence of another page of the adventures of Lady Agatha Heterodyne, the eponymous Girl Genius. Two in-jokes grace the page, neither of which I managed to note myself, but which were spotted by other eagle-eyed readers in other forums. The wand borne by Zeetha bears upon it the legend "Ral Partha", which... more »

India's R Energy Sector and Green Energy Index Unaffected by Global Economic Slowdown
India's Renewable Energy Sector and Green Energy Index Unaffected by Global Economic Slowdown November 21, Bangalore: The global slowdown can be a tempting excuse for most to put ecological concerns on the furlough. But India is moving purposefully towards sustainable development, understanding the fierce urgency for economically sound, socially equitable and... more »

Want a Kindle before Christmas? Get ready to pay
TechCrunch [link] Last year Amazon had trouble filling orders of the then-new Kindle, so eBay took over and prices rocketed... This year, same problem: [link] I saw save a few dollars and wait for the new one to come out. You don’t want to be the guy who’s reading the old... more »

Zafon's _Shadow of the Wind_ - specfic or not?
The question's in the subject, really. Locus has dubbed it literary fantasy. I read it recently and didn't find any fantasy or supernatural elements in it. True, there are a lot of mysterious issues, but in the end there's a mundane explanation for everything, and what could have been a fantasy simply ends up as a solved mystery.... more »
