2009 Movie Release Schedule: Oct-Dec and TBA

October Releases

 

“Shutter Island” – Leo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo are U.S. Marshals called to a remote island to investigate the disappearance of a murderess from the island’s criminally-insane hospital. Opens October 2, 2009

 

“Sorority Row” – When a prank goes wrong, five sorority sisters try to cover it up. Unfortunately, a serial killer is on their trail. Stars Carrie Fisher. Opens October 2, 2009

 

“Toy Story 3D” – Pixar re-releases their 1995 hit in 3D. Opens October 2, 2009

 

“The Stepfather” – A guy returns home from military school to find his mother with a new man. Is he everything he’s cracked up to be? Opens October 16, 2009

 

“Where the Wild Things Are” – Spike Jonze adaptation of the classic kids book. Opens October 16, 2009

 

“Astroboy” – Based off the TV show, a young robot in Metro City wants to be a superhero but faces many trials and tribulations before returning to save the day. Opens October 23, 2009

 

 

November Releases

 

“The Box” – A couple receive a box that, if they push a button, they receive $1 million. Unfortunately someone they don’t care about dies. Based on the Richard Matheson story, “Button, Button.” Opens November 6, 2009

 

“Disney’s ‘A Christmas Carol’” – A 3D adaptation of the Dickens novel with Jim Carrey, Gary Oldman, and Colin Firth. Opens November 6, 2009

 

“The Wolfman” – Benecio del Toro is a haunted nobleman who discovers his terrifying destiny. Also stars Anthony Hopkins and Hugo Weaving. Opens November 6, 2009

 

“New Moon” – Sequel to “Twilight.” Opens November 20, 2009

 

“Planet 51” – When an astronaut lands on a planet that fears alien invasion, he has to avoid capture and reclaim his ship to return to Earth. With the voice of Dwayne Johnson, Seann William Scott, Jessica Biel, Gary Oldman, and John Cleese. Opens November 20, 2009

 

“Sherlock Holmes” – Guy Ritchie directing a ‘Sherlock Holmes’ movie with Robert Downey, Jr. as the detective. Opens November 20, 2009

 

“Old Dogs” – Robin Williams and John Travolta are best friends whose lives are turned upside-down when they have to take care of six-year-old twins while they’re on the verge of one of the biggest business deals. Opens November 25, 2009

 

 

December Releases

 

“The Lovely Bones” – A murdered girl, now in Heaven, looks down below on her grieving family and her killer. Based on the best-selling book by Alice Sebold. Directed by Peter Jackson. Opens December 11, 2009

 

“The Princess and the Frog” – Disney’s re-imagining of “The Princess and the Frog,” taking place this time in Louisiana. Opens December 25, 2009

“25/8” – A serial killer returns 16 years after he was murdered to kill 7 children born on the night he died. Directed by Wes Craven. Coming soon!

 

“Arthur and the Revenge of Maltazard” – Luc Besson presents the sequel to “Arthur and the Invisibles.” Coming soon!

 

“The Boat That Rocked” – Set in the 60’s. A group of DJ’s give a new meaning to “pirate radio” by broadcasting rock music from a boat in the North Seas while most of the broadcasters in England are still clinging to jazz. Stars Bill Nighy, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Gemma Arterton, Emma Thompson, and David Frost. Coming soon!

 

“Cirque Du Freak” – A boy named Darren Shan meets a mysterious man who turns out to be a vampire, then takes him on the long road to becoming one. Stars Salma Hayek, John C. Reilly, Willem Dafoe, and Patrick Fugit. Coming soon!

 

“The Code/ Thick as Thieves” – Morgan Freeman is a retired thief while Antonio Banderas is an up-and-coming one. Together, they plot to steal 2 Faberge eggs. Coming soon!

 

“Couples Retreat” – Couples are on a tropical resort island to work out their marriages. Stars Kristen Bell, Vince Vaughn, Jason Bateman, Jon Favreau, and Jean Reno. Coming soon!

 

“The Deal” – William H. Macy is a down-and-out film producer who agrees to do his nephew’s 19-century period piece. But when the action star slated to head-up the cast is kidnapped, he has to get creative. Also stars Meg Ryan, LL Cool J and Elloit Gould. Coming Soon!

 

“From Paris with Love” – John Travolta is a bald, American secret agent who crosses paths with John Rhys-Meyers while in Paris. Coming soon!

 

“The Green Zone” – CIA agents on the hunt for those WMDs with a journalist following. Stars Matt Damon, Greg Kinnear, and Amy Ryan. Coming soon!

 

“The Hurt Locker” –

“I Love You Phillip Morris” – Not necessarily about the tobacco industry. Jim Carrey is a guy who has a wife and kids and winds up in an auto accident, waking up and proclaiming that he’s gay. “The Last House on the Left” – Remake of the We Craven film about two murderers who find refuge with the parents of their victims. Coming soon!

“Up in the Air” – George Clooney is a corporate hatchet man who spends more time in the air than at home and is close to reaching 5 million frequent flyer miles.
