The 'xXx' franchise began in 2002 with Vin Diesel as Xander Cage, an extreme sports enthusiast turned NSA superspy. Diesel left after the second film in 2005, replaced by Ice Cube. He returned in 2017 for 'xXx: Return of Xander Cage', which included a stellar cast featurig Donnie Yen, Bollywood star Deepika Padukone, Kris Wu, Ruby Rose, Tony Jaa, Nina Dobrev, Toni Collette, Ariadna Gutiérrez, Hermione Corfield, and Samuel L. Jackson. While news of 'xXx 4' surfaced with Diesel, the movie is yet to materialize.
As per Deadline's report, 'xXx 4' remains firmly on The H Collective's upcoming production roster. Additionally, the production company is forging ahead with a sequel to the 2019 horror-superhero flick Brightburn, along with several other exciting projects in the pipeline.
A note at the end of the report reads, "The company's slate has also included a fourth installment in the 'xXx' franchise but there's no update on progress on that project."
This confirmation solidifies that 'xXx 4' is actively in progress, although it remains in the early stages of development. Fans should brace themselves for an extended period of anticipation before the larger-than-life sequel eventually makes its way to the big screen.
Earlier this year, Vin Diesel shared a post on Instagram with Deepika Padukone, who made her Hollywood debut in 'XXX: Return of Xander Cage'. His caption read, "Spirit lead me…@deepikapadukone was one of my favorite people to work with. She brought me to India and I loved it… looking forward to my return. All love, always."
