Rani Mukerji Reveals Short Dress In 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' Song Was 'Nightmare'; 'I Was Only 17 Years Old...'

After appearing in films like Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat and Ghulam, Rani Mukerji got her breakthrough in Karan Johar's Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. The NRI with her Indian roots not only stole the heart of Shah Rukh Khan's Rahul but also millions of cinephiles. But did you know that the actress was only 17 years old at the time?

During her appearance at the Hello! award, as quoted by Indian Express, Rani Mukerji recalled the time she was shooting Kuch Kuch Hota Hai as a teenager with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. The song Koi Mil Gaya was one of the biggest hit songs of the year and featured all three main leads dancing enthusiastically.

Rani Mukerji's short dress was also a hit at the time. But the actress revealed she was less than thrilled to wear such a short skirt. ''I was only 17 years old and till such time, I hadn’t worn such a short skirt ever in my life,'' the actress said while revealing that she doesn't know how she pulled off the dance steps while wearing the short dress.

She further added that director Karan Johar and designer Manish Malhotra initially presented the outfit as a gown. But it 'got shorter' by the time it reached the sets. ''When the outfit was taken to the cameramen, he looked at it and said, ‘Oh is this for baby Sana” and they were like, ‘No it is actually for Rani’ so he got a fright!” she recalled.

Kajol also chimed in adding that she thought Rani 'could not even move' in the dress, let alone dance in it. However, the 45-year-old actress credited her co-stars and Karan Johar for making her feel confident in the dress. She admitted being 'petrified' about wearing the short dress.

''I was petrified walking on top of that platform because all the boys and girls were below, looking up, so that was quite a nightmare for me,'' Rani Mukerji said. However, she admitted feeling 'shocked' after she saw herself on the screen.
