Aspark, is a Japanese engineering services company founded in 2005. The company, till now was providing engineering services to automotive industry, as well as for electronic and industrial sectors. During the Dubai Motor Show, Aspark has launched a limited edition electric hyper car which arguably claims the position of the fastest car in the world. Its called the “Owl” and only 50 lucky and very rich owners across the globe will get a chance to own it. The “Owl” costs a whopping Euros 2.9 Million (INR 23.78 Crore, pre import duty and tax).

The “Owl” is one of the most outrageous cars to come out. Notwithstanding its performance and technology, it is a beautiful car with lovely proportions. It has scissor doors, a la the Lamborghini, and a rear which may at times remind of the 911. But the design is taut and does not look like a mish-mash.

The Aspark Owl is a pure electric hyper car made from the most advanced materials. The car monocoque is made from a solid block of carbon with mesh integrated for better absorption of impact. The body is made from Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic (CFRP). Independently, the monocoque weighs just 120 Kg while the CFRP body weighs 180 kg. However, the body is reinforced with steel and aluminium tube skeleton for better safety. The car is 4,791 mm long, 1,935 mm wide and just 995 mm tall. The wheel base is 2,750 mm. Over all the car weighs 1,900 Kgs.

The Aspark Owl is powered by four Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors powering the individual wheels and generating 2012 BHP of power at 15,000 rpm. They also generate 2,000 N-m of torque. These are insane figures for a road going car. As result, the Aspark Owl can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.96 seconds. Yes, there is no mistake in placing the decimal. It takes 10.6 seconds to cross 300 km/h and if you don’t lift off, the car will go on to do a top speed of 400 km/h. All the power is put down to the earth through 265/35 ZR20 Michelin Pilot Sport CUP2-R and/or Pirelli 265/35ZR20 XL P ZERO tyres at front and 325/30 ZR21 Michelin Pilot Sport CUP2-R and/or Pirelli 325/30ZR21 XL P ZERO at the rear. The wheel sizes are different, 20″ at the front and 21″ at the rear. To stop this rocket, Aspark has fitted the Owl with 10 piston ceramic disk brakes at front and 4 piston ceramic brakes at the rear.

Suspension is hydraulic with double wishbone at front and rear. The car height can be varied from 80 to 160 mm either automatically based on the speed or manually by the driver. For stability, it also has a rear wing which pops out at 150 km/h and retracts at 100 km/h to provide additional down force. In addition, the Aspark has installed the Owl with all conceivable electronic safety aids like, ABS (Antilock Braking System), TCS (Traction Control System), ESP (Electronic Stability System), HBS (Hydraulic Braking System), BMS (Battery Monitoring System), TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System), ESS (Emergency Stop Signal) and Steering Assistance.

The juice for the four PMS motors comes from a high performance Li-ion battery with a capacity of 64 KW-H and generating 800 V DC. This battery can be fully charged using a 44 KW DC fast charger in 80 minutes flat. The energy stored in the batteries of the Owl allow it a range of 450 km. The Battery Management System has been especially designed for the car and continuously monitors the level of each cell and protects the battery from overcharge, over-discharge, overheat and more.

For the driver and passenger, the car has been provided with all the luxuries in life like rear camera monitoring system, climate control, four interior display screens for various functions, luxurious ambient lighting, key less entry, aircraft type switches in the ceiling, four driving modes, sport-dynamic, rain-snow, city-comfort and high boost; and customizable Dashboard Colors for Each Drive Mode. Plus the latest connectivity with phones, navigation systems etc.

And finally, the car will be built in the Mecca of hyper cars, yes, Italy and will be offered as a left hand drive.
