Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Ganesha. The day is also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi. The celebration is 10 days long, where on day 1 people install the Ganesh idol at home or pandals and worship it for the next 10 days. On the last day of the celebration, the virsarjan of the idol is done.

Here we will tell what one must not do after doing Ganesh Sthapana at home.
To start with, people clean their house including the mandir and bathe before getting the Ganesha idol at home. A kalash filled with water is kept with a coconut on the top of it and is decorated with betel leaves, kalawa and flowers. The Ganesha Idol is placed on a platform and is adorned with a sacred thread called janeu, sandalwood paste, flowers, and garland.
Dhoob along with red flowers is offered to Ganesha for the next 10 days along with laddoo and
modak.
It's not mandatory to keep Ganesha for 10 days, you can also keep him 1.5 days, 3 days, 7 days or 10 days. Once the Ganpati Sthapana is done, there are a few things that the family members must avoid doing. Here is the list of 7 such things.
Avoid having ginger and garlicIt is said the family members should avoid having garlic and onion till the time Ganpati ji is at home.
Offer Ganesha everything firstAs Lord Ganesha is the guest in the house so anything be it food or water, everything should be first offered to him.
Idol should not be left unattendedGanesha idol should not be left at home unattended. There should be at least one family member at home with Ganesha at home.
Do not gambleDevotees should avoid gambling during this, whether outside or inside the home.
Do not eat non-veg and alcoholMeat and alcohol should strictly not be consumed.
