After a five-year hiatus following a spate of box-office underperformers, during which he only appeared in cameos, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan made a roaring comeback in 2023 with the two biggest hits of the year — “Pathaan” and “Jawan,” the latter produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, the production company and VFX house he co-founded. In the process, the great romantic star of the modern era, known at home as “SRK,” the “King of Bollywood” or simply “King Khan,” reinvented himself as an action hero. Next up is Christmas release “Dunki,” a dramedy from hitmaker Rajkumar Hirani, with “Tiger vs Pathaan,” the next in the Bollywood spy-universe films, due to commence in 2024. Khan also co-owns the Indian Premier League cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders and the Caribbean Premier League team Trinbago Knight Riders.
