There was a time when Salman Khan's name was synonymous with shirtless scenes. He was the actor who made every actor conscious of their physique. Salman sporting his bare chest and dancing to O o Jaane Jana is still so fresh in our minds! After a point, it became more of a fad than a need to show Salman's bare body in a movie and his fans would often be disappointed if the makers missed out on one. But who was the real mastermind behind such great idea? Or who motivated the actor to take his shirt off for his movie scenes? Well, it was the actor himself. While Salman Khan was already garnering accolades for his role in the 1994 superhit movie, Hum Aapke Hai Koun, he made headlines for a completely different reason in 1995. The star dropped his shirt and flaunted his bare body for the very first time in Rakesh Roshan's Karan Arjun and the rest, as they say, is history. It was actually during the making of Veergati that he began building his body and the efforts proved to be fruitful by the time Karan Arjun went on the floors. When the star was asked the reason for the same, he had said, "I realised that a good body was an asset and hence I cast my shirt off for the film. When you have a good body, why shouldn't you show it off, man? Walking around bare-chested is not new for me. Even in my house, I never wear a shirt. You will always find me in just shorts. If I am driving or walking down the road, and if I feel hot, I just take off my shirt and carry on. I do not care what people say. If you have a problem, get lost." The actor was then even termed as one of the most arrogant stars in the industry but he had no qualms about it. He would simply say, "Call me arrogant or whatever you like. I am like this. I try and put forward myself very clearly. I am not scared of speaking the truth. I have been labelled arrogant by a section of the film press, especially those magazines which want me to run around them and accept whatever they write about me. If I call you names, if I write rubbish about your family, will you like it? It can spoil your relationships with your colleagues and family and also land you in a soup. Just because somebody wants to sell his magazine, does it mean I should allow them to make use of me?"That was Salman Khan for you in 1998. A lot has been changed since then but the only thing that's constant is our memory of those drool worthy scenes.
