As this occurs, a cleansing or purification occurs. It’s like you have the key to health. Body, mind and spirit are no longer locked into one position. You let go, allowing yourself to experience a free flowing state. Everything gets released. Emotions get acknowledged, and physical symptoms come out into the open. There are many case studies identify this as a prime example of the mind body link and are the beginnings of what you call “Dance Therapy”.
 
In Bollywood dance, inner feeling self and outer physical self interact to increase self awareness. Whether it’s in a solo, duet or group environment these inner and outer selves work together to fulfill their mutual needs. In this way one achieves harmony or balance. It is through this harmonious or peaceful state of mind that one can express oneself and let one’s spirit shine.

For adolescents this leads to decreased susceptibility to peer pressure. Dance reduces harmful behavior such as teen pregnancy, drug and alcohol abuse and creates healthier attitudes towards these and other related subjects. A healthier, more positive attitude towards life is the result.
 
Bollywood dance does not require any special equipment or skill. All that is needed is an active imagination along with a curiosity to explore another culture. Tell your tale through movement and share it with others. There are many benefits to this dance form.
