When it comes to being bold in front of the camera, most actresses know where to draw the line. Tigmanshu Dhulia reveals how Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor Khan both said no to a dream role as the real-life warrior-princess Begum Samru, only because the script has unabashed scenes of  semi-nudity and love-making.

Confesses the filmmaker, “The role requires a lot of body exposure from its heroine. I went to Rani Mukerji. She loved the script but declined the offer because of the nudity. Kareena too said no for the same reason.”

Now Tigmanshu will cast an international actress as Begum Samru. He says, “I don’t think any of the top actresses in our country would be comfortable with the nudity in Begum Samru. Certainly not any of the A-Listers. So it’s best if I sign an international actress.”

The plan now is to turn Begum Samru into an international project with a top global actress playing the title role. Incidentally, Tigmanshu initially planned the film with Mallika Sherawat in the lead. But sadly no one is interested in Mallika anymore, with or without clothes.
