1. Zero Dark Thirty
The 2012 American thriller titled Zero Dark Thirty was written by Mark Boal and directed by Kathryn Bigelow. The movie dramatises the nearly ten-year international manhunt that followed the September 11 attacks for Osama bin Laden, the terrorist organisation Al-leader. Qaeda's Maya is a CIA agent who gained her first experience interrogating detainees after the 9/11 attacks by Al Qaeda on the United States. She reluctantly agrees to the detainees being subjected to extreme duress because she thinks that this is the only way to get the truth. She has been persistently looking for leads to learn Osama Bin Laden's whereabouts for a number of years. In 2011, it seems as though her efforts will be rewarded, and a team of U.S. Navy SEALs are dispatched to either kill or capture Bin Laden. Only Maya, however, is certain that Bin Laden is where she claims he is.
2. Expendables
The "Expendables," a group of highly skilled mercenaries led by Barney Ross, include demolitionist Toll Road, martial arts expert Yin Yang, heavy weapons specialist Hale Caesar, knife enthusiast Lee Christmas, and loose-cannon sniper Gunner Jensen. Barney and Lee travel to the remote location to scout out their rivals when the group is given the assignment to kill the brutal dictator of a small South American island by the enigmatic Mr. Church. When they arrive, they run into local rebel Sandra and learn the truth about the conflict engulfing the city. When Sandra stays behind as they leave the island, Ross must decide whether to leave and risk his own life or attempt a suicidal rescue mission that just might save him.

Colter Stevens, an army captain, is developing a special programme that allows him to implant his consciousness into another person. The only restriction is that each visit is limited to 8 minutes. Just outside of Chicago, a commuter train was struck by a bomb that morning. His last memory was of piloting his chopper on a combat mission in Afghanistan, so he occupies the body of a teacher traveling to work on that train and is unsure of what he is doing or why he is there. He is informed by those in charge of the programme that there is a bomb on the train and that he must find it. More importantly, he needs to find the bomber because another attack is predicted for later in the day. However, he is also informed that he has no control over the past and can only learn about it. He decides to test that theory as he grows fond of his traveling companion Christina.
4. The Suicide Squad
The Suicide Squad transforms its titular criminals into a group of lovable anti-heroes who are set loose in a stunning, surprisingly emotional adventure. It is an exhilarating blast of bloody, disreputable comic-book cinema. A ragtag group of hardened prisoners, known as The Suicide Squad, is put together by government agent Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) to take out Jotunheim, a former Nazi research facility hidden on an island off South America that is thought to still be carrying out gruesome experiments. Bloodsport ( Idris Elba), the Squad's reluctant leader, must collaborate with the bloodthirsty Peacemaker ( John Cena), among others. Harley Quinn ( Margot Robbie), the lone survivor of a separate mission to destroy Jotunheim, soon joins them. They capture the villainous scientist Thinker ( Peter Capaldi), who reveals that the lab has been keeping Starro—a terrifying interstellar creature that, if let loose, could wipe out humanity— in captivity.
5. Safe House
Safe House is a 2012 thriller starring Ryan Reynolds, Denzel Washington and Vera Farmiga. It revolves around a CIA agent Matt Weston (Ryan Reynolds) who is operating a Safehouse in Cape Town, South Africa. Then he gets a chance to interrogate Tobin Frost (Denzel Washington), CIA's most wanted rogue. But soon after Tobin’s arrival Safehouse is attacked by mercenaries who want Tobin. Matt and Tobin then have to work as a team in order to stay alive to figure out who wants Tobin dead. The two actors proved to be a strong duo in the entire film and fit perfectly in their respective roles. And trust us when we say this, you will not be disappointed with the action and the acting.
6. Inception
Inception released in 2010, featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, the film is an incredible action/sci-fi. The story revolves around Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) a skilled thief, who is the best at extraction, he steals valuable secrets from people’s subconscious during the dream state. This rare talent of his has made him a great player in the corporate world but it has cost him everything he ever loved. Cobb is offered a chance at redemption only if he is able to do an impossible task. Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull a reverse task, they don’t have to steal an idea but have to plant one. If he and his team are able to succeed this will be a perfect crime but the enemy is able to predict their every move. This film will surely keep you hooked to the screen as it is such an interesting film. And the storyline and casting are perfect.
7. Edge Of Tomorrow
Edge Of Tomorrow is the perfect action/sci-fi released in 2014. Starring Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt and Bill Paxton, the story revolves around how the earth is hit by aliens who are unbeatable by any military force in the world. Major William Cage (Tom Cruise) is an officer who has always fought the battles like going on a suicide mission, but he gets killed within minutes. He then finds himself stuck in a time loop forcing him to live the same combat, fight and die over and over again. But with each battle, William is able to increase his skills along with Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt). With each repeated encounter Cage and Rita get one step closer to defeating the enemy. The film flows in an interesting way and from the storyline to the screenplay we loved this film.
8. Mad Max: Fury Road
Mad Max: Fury Road, released in 2015, is an action masterpiece. Directed by George Miller, and starring Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy, the film is set in an apocalyptic era on a planet that is out of our reach. A planet where humanity doesn’t exist and everyone is fighting for the basic necessities of life. Here live two rebels who can restore some order to survive. On one side there is Max (Tom Hardy) who is a man of few words and is seeking mental peace following the loss of his wife and child. On the other side, there is Furiosa (Charlize Theron) a woman who believes her survival can be achieved only if she is able to make it to her childhood homeland. The action sequences in this film are jaw-dropping, George Miller has definitely put together a memorable action film.
9. Minority Report
Minority Report released in 2002 is a perfect blend of action, thrill and suspense. Starring the charming Tom Cruise, the story is set in the year 2054, in Washington D.C. where the crime is virtually eliminated by a law enforcing squad ‘Precrime’. The team has three gifted humans called ‘Pre-Cogs’ who have special powers to see the future and predict crimes before they are even committed. However, the Pre-Cogs predict that John Anderton (Tom Cruise) who heads Precrime will commit a murder in the next thirty-six hours. And John doesn’t even know the victim. The story continues as he decides to solve the mystery by finding out the ‘minority report’ which means the prediction of the female Precog which can predict a different story and prove that John is innocent. What the audience loved about this film was the concept and story were so fresh.
10. Contraband
Contraband released in 2012, starring Mark Wahlberg, Kate Beckinsale, Ben Foster and Giovanni Ribisi revolves around Chris Faraday (Mark Wahlberg) who used to smuggle illegal items into the country on freighters. He then starts a fresh life once he gets married and has a family. But when his brother-in-law blows off a deal with Briggs (Giovanni Ribisi) a drug dealer, Briggs demands a reinstitution which he is not able to deliver. Chris decides to find a way to pay Briggs back, so he gets on a freighter to go to Panama and sets out to bring back some counterfeit currency. Briggs then goes on to threaten Chris’s family and tells him to get drugs instead of cash.
11. Blade: Trinity
Directed by David S. Goyer, the film is an action horror sci-fi starring Ryan Reynolds, Wesley Snipes, Parker Posey, Kris Kristofferson, Jessica Biel, Dominic Purcell, Mark Berry and Paul Anthony. It revolves around the story of Blade, a wanted man by the FBI who needs to join hands with the Nightstalkers to form a defense against his most dreaded enemy, Dracula. Though the film does not revolve around Blade entirely, it focuses on other characters and in entirety is indeed an entertaining feature. The viewers loved the film for the impeccable performances by the actors and gripping action scenes. The final chapter of the much loved series surely impressed the audiences.
12. The Warrior's Way
Released in the year 2010, The Warrior’s Way features a perfect blend of action, drama and fantasy. The film’s star cast includes Jang Dong-gun, Kate Bosworth, Danny Huston, Tony Cox, Geoffrey Rush, Lung Ti and Analin Rudd in prominent roles. The story revolves around a warrior-assassin who is forced to hide in a small town in the American Badlands after refusing a mission. Directed by Sngmoo Lee, the film captures the perfect character development of the warrior, the protagonist of the film. The viewers loved the film for the suspense that the film includes along with scenes that showcase swordsman skills and cowboy gun fights leaving the audience awestruck by the preciseness of it.
13. The Scorpion King 2
The Scorpion King 2 is an action packed adventure-fantasy directed by Chuck Russell. The film portrays the story of a desert warrior who rises up against an evil army set out to destroy his homeland. He starts by capturing the enemy’s sorcerer, taking her deep into the desert, thus preparing for a final showdown. Starring Dwayne Johnson, Kelly Hu, Steven Brand, Bernard Hill, Ralf Moeller and Peter Facinelli, the film is written by Stephen Sommers, William Osborne and Jonathan Hales. The audiences loved the film for its portrayal of the ancient Egyptian world and to an extent some unrealistic action scenes.
