The Akshay Kumar Playlist — As Toilet: Ek Prem Katha releases, a look at his craziest '90s songs

With Toilet: Ek Prem Katha slated for release today, it only makes sense (well to us at least) to revisit  Akshay Kumar ’s glorious ’90s moments. From camouflage pants, to a very hairy chest, banana leaves, a very metrosexual Saif Ali Khan, mud, ‘African’ background dancers, a very impassioned Raveena Tandon, role-play, chest bumping and a sex-crazed Rekha — we dug all of our favourite songs from Akshay’s ’90s films to play on repeat on this dreary Friday.

Let us assure you, none of what you’re about to see is a hallucination.

O Mere Chhaila (Keemat 1998)

This.song.is.on.drugs. No, really. What is going on?! Everything in this video has been multiplied by 987643 — from the gyrating hips of Sonali Bendre and Raveena Tandon to their ten thousand (we counted) shimmies, from Akshay Kumar’s hairy chest to Akshay Kumar’s thong. To top it all off — there are banana leaves! Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar are seen dancing in the center of a group of women with barely-there banana leaves covering their crown jewels. Ah, the ’90s. How we miss you.

In The Night No Control (Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi 1996)

We have so much to say about this number, but we’ve essentially been rendered speechless. This song has Akshay Kumar. And Rekha… an uninhibitedly passionate Rekha. Rekha also likes Akshay Kumar. Rekha also likes wrestling in the mud. This song was almost traumatising to watch, so we’re going to leave you alone to watch this video and reach the same altered mental status as us.

Haseena Gori Gori (Tarazu 1997)

Sonali Bendre, Akshay Kumar, African dancers and African drums — this song is in 2089 while we are stuck in 2017. Bendre displays her snazzy moves while Akshay is wearing the loudest Hawaiian costume we’ve ever laid eyes on. He then proceeds to take off the shirt with a flourish and we are treated to the delightful sight of his curly chest hair once again (honestly, Akshay’s chest hair deserves a mention in the end credits of every ’90s movie he’s ever starred in).

Tip Tip Barsa Paani (Mohra 1994)

What is it about ’90s Akshay that just drives these women crazy? After Rekha, we now have Raveena Tandon throwing herself at the Khiladi in her famous yellow sari. This song has redefined rain for many generations to come. There is a lot of writhing, a lot of sari undraping and the Most Hilarious Chest Bump between Akshay and Raveena that we couldn’t help but laugh out loud at.

Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast (Mohra 1994)

You know what? We’re just going to leave this classic here. If role-play is your thing, then this will be your jam.

Here’s an extra track to remind us why we love this goofy, weird AF yet lovable man.
