Among the vast array of songs produced by the Indian music industry each year, a substantial portion comprises remakes and remixes. To add to that, music producers often draw inspiration from foreign industries to craft their chart-toppers. In recent times, the Hindi film industry has turned to popular songs from neighbouring Pakistan, creating diverse remakes. While some of these renditions have been well-received, others have failed to meet audience expectations, leaving them disappointed.

1. ‘Pasoori Nu’

Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani's latest song takes inspiration from Coke Studio Pakistan's song 'Pasoori,' originally sung by Ali Sethi and Shae Gill. The bollywood remake, featuring Arijit Singh and Tulsi Kumar as the vocalists, seems to have deviated from the original song's essence. While the original version was a melancholic melody, the remake in 'Satyaprem Ki Katha' has transformed into a romantic love song, leaving audiences wondering about the necessity of this remake.

2. ‘Disco Deewane’

‘The hit track 'Disco Deewane' featured in 'Student Of The Year' is actually a remake of a well-known Pakistani song from 1980. Sung by Nazia Hassan, renowned for her song 'Aap Jaisa Koi' from the movie Qurbani, she collaborated with her brother Zoheb Hassan for the original version. The original 'Disco Deewane' was a popular party anthem, and Bollywood made a few minor adjustments to the lyrics. Interestingly, Karan Johar, the director of 'Student Of The Year,' stated that he drew inspiration from Nazia's rendition of the song.

3. ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’

The chart-topping hit, featuring Salman Khan and Malaika Arora, became a favourite among Indians, making them dance to its catchy beats. However, not many may be aware that this song was actually inspired by a Pakistani track called 'Larka Badnaam Hova Haseena Tere Liye,' featured in Umar Sharif's 1992 film "Mr. Charlie."

4. ‘Halka Halka’

The song, performed by Sunidhi Chauhan and Divya Kumar and starring Rajkummar Rao and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, is a remake of a track originally sung by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. While the remake introduces modern elements and a contemporary touch, the essence and soul of the original composition by the legendary Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan remain intact. The song pays homage to the timeless work of the Sufi maestro, maintaining the emotive depth and richness of his vocals.

5. ‘Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast’

The adaptation of Ustad Nusrat Ali Khan's sufi song titled 'Dam Mast Mast' into a foot-tapping and peppy dance number marked a significant evolution in its musical journey. From its origins as a soulful qawwali, the song underwent a remarkable transformation, embracing a more lively and upbeat rendition. Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon's dynamic dance performance added a whole new dimension to the song, captivating audiences with their infectious energy and vibrant moves. This fusion of traditional Sufi elements with contemporary dance beats made the song a massive hit, firmly establishing its place in the hearts of music lovers and leaving an indelible mark in the world of Bollywood music.
