Mr. India

Sridevi’s comic timing in this cult movie was apparent for everyone to see. Her character of a pesky journalist who hates kids was made endearing and has a development graph in the film and she played it perfectly.

Janbaaz

In Janbaaz Sridevi had a brief role as the beloved of Feroz Khan but the movie is remembered by her song where she dances and mesmerizes everyone in an orange sari singing. “Har Kisi Ko Nahin Milta, Yahan Pyar Zindagi Mein.”

Sadma

Sadma is probably one of the most iconic roles of any female actor ever. Sridevi starred in this movie opposite Kamal Haasan. Sridevi portrayed the role of a girl who regresses into childhood after an accident. Her performance is so accomplished, complete and poignant that it never ceases to amaze.

Chandni

Chandni was the launchpad for Sridevi to join the Yash Chopra bandwagon. Sridevi delivered a knockout performance in this movie dancing and emoting her way to people’s hearts. Paired opposite Vinod Khanna and Rishi Kapoor she overshadowed both her male stars completely and owned the film like no other.

Nagina

Nagina movie is probably remembered only for Sridevi dancing her serpentine dance moves in the song “Main Teri Dushman”. The song became immensely popular and remains to this date one of the most remembered songs ever, especially since the movie was not worth remembering.

Chaalbaaz

Chaalbaaz was a remake of 1973 movie Seeta Aur Geeta and saw Sridevi play a double role of twin sisters, the docile Anju and the tomboyish Manju. Although, she was stepping into the shoes of Dilip Kumar and Hema Malini who had done the original movies Sridevi created a name for herself and delivered a knockout performance that brought her in the leagues of her seniors.

Lamhe

Lamhe did not actually win at the box office but Sridevi won a lot of hearts with her portrayal of a double role in mother-daughter starring opposite real-life brother-in-law Anil Kapoor. Sridevi won acclaim for her performance and won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress.

Gumrah

Gumrah was a far cry from the usual song and dance movies that Sridevi was associated with. Directed by Mahesh Bhatt and starring Sanjay Dutt opposite her, Sridevi did a commendable performance in this crime thriller film. Her performance at being convicted and put in jail is something that will stay with you even after you finish watching the movie.

English Vinglish

English Vinglish was Sridevi’s comeback film in Bollywood and with her docile, submissive housewife role she proved once again that you give her any roles she would do justice to her and do it so well that it would be impossible for anyone to replace her.

Sridevi’s passing away is one of the most shocking news ever especially when she looked so hale and hearty at her nephew’s wedding. She looked resplendent in the photos that she shared on social media. Sridevi would forever live in the hearts of her fans for her charisma, acting prowess, her beauty and her charm. RIP Sridevi!
