Have you noticed such Kos (unit of distance eg km, mile) Minars on Indian Highways 🤔

Such towers used to spread a specific coloured smoke for a specific signal to the next similar towers spread across Sher Shah Suri Marg (these towers used to exist after every 5-7 KMs from Lahore to Kolkata). Eg, a thick black somke used to signify movement of enemy, a red smoke used to indicate movement of some VIPs and so on.
Such communications system was a marvelous one in those era 🤗

Duh, 😲 I passed by these wonderful innovations of the olden days last month thinking these were merely chimneys of brick kilns nearby.
