Salman Khan Firing Incident: A timeline Of Events

Salman Khan has been in the news for the last few days after two men shot outside actor Salman Khan’s home, the Galaxy apartment (April 14), in Mumbai. The men, Vicky Gupta (24) and Sagar Pal (21) from Champaran, Bihar, reportedly worked for Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of Lawrence Bishnoi, a gangster in jail. The gangster had claimed responsibility for the shooting. Police caught the shooters at a temple in Bhuj, Gujarat, pretending to be worshippers.

The Accused

The police have also taken 19-year-old Sonu Gupta into custody, who is Vicky Gupta's younger brother from Chandigarh. They're looking into his involvement in the incident. Additionally, they questioned his parents and another brother in West Champaran. The shooters fired five shots at Salman's Galaxy Apartment. One bullet hit the balcony. His security was increased in 2022 because of threats from Lawrence Bishnoi's gang.
The shooters left their motorcycle near Mount Mary Church and took a train, auto-rickshaw, and buses to Bhuj. Police tracked them using SIM cards, their bike, the Aadhaar card used to rent a house, and Pal's beard. The police seized their phones and are analysing them. They're still searching for the gun and original phones used by the shooters.
A 20-year-old man named Rohit Tyagi was also arrested recently for allegedly booking a cab from Salman's home under the name of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. According to ANI, the police mentioned that Tyagi booked the cab from Salman's residence, Galaxy Apartment, to the Bandra Police Station in the name of Lawrence Bishnoi. “When the cab driver reached Galaxy Apartment at Salman Khan’s house and asked the watchman there about the booking, the watchman who was stunned at first, immediately informed about the booking to the nearby Bandra Police Station,” cops stated.

Connection with Bishnoi Gang

The gang had threatened Salman before because of an incident in 1998 when he was accused of killing a blackbuck, an animal sacred to the Bishnoi community. The Mumbai Crime Branch is investigating the case after an FIR was filed.

The police discovered that a Facebook account under the name of Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, claimed responsibility for the shooting three hours before it happened, according to PTI. They found that the IP address of the post was from Portugal, suggesting it was likely uploaded using a VPN, a tool for privacy and security. So far, Anmol Bishnoi hasn't been named as a suspect in the case.

Maha CM's remark

The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, met Salman's family and promised their safety. He vowed to eliminate underworld gangs from the state. According to ANI, he said, "I met with Salman Khan and assured him the government is with him. I also directed the police team to take immediate action on this, and in that path, two of the accused have been arrested. This is Maharashtra; no gang is left here. We will uproot all the gangs and goons. Here, hooliganism will not be allowed to continue. The accused arrested are being interrogated... Strict action will be taken. I have also directed the Police Commissioner to provide security for Salman Khan and his family. It is our duty to take care of our people. I don't want to comment on what happened in the past government, but we will uproot all the gangs and goons who will try to harm any person in the state."
