Kajol is back with another 2023 style hit, and we’re here for it

The look is a lesson in dressing low-key but chic
2023 is the year of maximalism. In what feels like the first real year since the pandemic, bright colours, bold patterns, and unique fabrics are unapologetically taking up space on the runway. The red carpets and runways feature such bold avant-garde pieces right now that it may seem hard to visualise incorporating this year’s fashion trends in a day-to-day scenario. Although the task is challenging, Kajol recently showed us that it is, in fact, possible.
The actress was photographed wearing a matching set by Nupur Kanoi. The set—a V-neck top with wide leg pants—was beige and overlaid with a background pattern of checked-squares overlaid with floral and leaf motifs. The most eye-catching part of the set, however, was at the midriff, which consisted of large sequins surrounded by delicate and colourful embroidery. Devgan’s styling complemented the cool tones of the set, as she opted for earrings and chunky bangles, both silver.
The embroidered work on the set’s midriff reflects a larger trend right now: sequins. From Anok Yai in Prabal Gurung’s ombrè look at the Met Gala to the majority of Valentino’s Spring/Summer 2023 show, it has become apparent that sequins and glitter are a mainstay right now. Kajol’s set takes it one step further: the embroidered sequins feel traditional and chic without being the kind of massively glittery statement piece that seems fit only for the runway.
