Did you know Vidya was once replaced from 12 films back to back?

Years ago, Vidya had come on board for 12 films at one point. While the contracts were signed, verbal commitments were exchanged. But as destiny had it, the actress was replaced in each of that film. Speaking to Pinkvilla, the actress had once revealed that she was also thrown out of a Tamil film. Her parents were so worried about her that they flew from Chennai to meet the producer with her. The producer showed them the clippings of the film and said, "Just look at her - does she look like a heroine?" Vidya was expectedly heartbroken after what happened and it took her months to heal.

The very first time that Vidya went for an audition, it was her sister who did her makeup. Vidya had also got a photoshoot done wearing fancy clothes at that time. 

Hum Paanch was Vidya's first show, but not her first shooting experience

Much before Hum Paanch, Vidya was actually set to make her acting debut with another television show. Even though the actress shot for 8 months for the said show, it was later and never saw the light of the day.

Vidya is a recipient of many prestigious awards. The actress was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2014. She has also won a National Film Award for her unparalleled performance in The Dirty Picture.
