Zero, 15 Nov 2021This phone is utter trash, the screen, camera and processor... moretf you means by 5G lacking?? Only special version of SD855 phone have 5G like S10 5G at that time. Tbh wireless charging isn't that great. Other complaint are just you being nitpicky. 4K screen with 3300mah, anyone with brain can know that the battery life would be bad.

Had Sony Xperia 1 never again think phone over heats etc
Think Sony Xperia 5 was the best battery life on that was for very long compare to 1 not haveing Xperia has to be Samsung 💯

Zero, 15 Nov 2021This phone is utter trash, the screen, camera and processor... moreMost of the complaint you wrote are the shortcomings which was announced beforehand. you bought it knowing all these so you shouldnt complain. battery life is not exemplary because of the 4K screen and everyone knows that. this phone is a very good phone, the display is the best, capable camera, good audio output and smooth software. I have one and after two and half years its rocking smooth.
the only credible is the fingerprint reader issue which is not that uncommon tbh.

DG, 20 Apr 2020Are hong kong versions are different form other versions? Yes, China Mainland usually want Dual Sim features which not available in Japan version, altough Hongkong apart from China land, but still get Google Services
In Indonesia, there are only Japanese Version which only single sim and tied to an operator in japan (because japan was rare to sell unlocked phone)

Have had this phone for two years and it's still working basically as it did when I got it (apart from battery life, which is to be expected). Never had any issues, finger print sensor works great, no heating issues- only thing I never liked was the selfie-camera. Usually after having a phone for two years I find myself looking for a new phone but not now.

This phone is utter trash, the screen, camera and processor, which are the reasons I bought it in 2019 are great, but the product is overall lackluster and unreliable. The 5g and wireless charging are lacking, it's sold as dual SIM but you have to either use a second SIM or the SD card, you can't have both. Of course I knew what I was buying so I've decided to close an eye back then, even though we're talking about a flagship phone with an according price, and the competitors offerd the functionalities this phone lacks. Anyway fast-forward two years and the already barely working fingerprint sensor is not working anymore, it's as if it doesn't exist, even the options regarding the sensor configuration have completely disappeared from the system. The issue is known to Sony and it's common across quite a number of their phones yet the won't recall them. And to top it all, the battery won't even last a day, which is ridiculous considering that during the day I mostly use a different phone for working related tasks. In conclusion you can buy a pocophone or something similar and have a better product, save you self money and troubles and avoid Sony's phones.

Great phone, I have it, still worth it in 2021!
Mostly because of its great chipset snapdragon 855.
Boought my phone used recently. It was a bit too expensive after my opinion, when it first came in 2019.
This phone can handle ALL games and apps.

Audio output quality is the same as Samsung Galaxy S10. Really, don't make it lower than it's worth it. It's the same flagship as all others

Depending on the region and the bundling program, you might need to update it manually using PC Companion. My Xperia 1 can update automatically using OTA since it's not bundled with any provider. But my XZ2 which is softbank version needs to be updated via PC Companion

not a bad phone, just wish there is more legacy app support (e.g. 16:9 or 18:9 compatibility mode) like the samsung devices 'Conventional' mode. A bigger battery, seriously 3330 mAh at this price, at least 4000 mAh thats more like it. Sony please listen to your customers i am slightly disappointed again, everytime i buy i always find some minor flaws even on a flagship like the xperia 1. maybe i should have get the samsung note 10+ instead. This phone supports HDMI out but unless you have a 21:9 monitor or TV it is kind of awkward as there is no settings for HDMI. Ethernet doesn't work as usual, but luckily wifi is pretty decent about 450mbps down over 5GHz wifi. I think Samsung note 10+ is a better buy but if you are a sony fan you will most likely like it as long as you don't need cool features and its as good as any sony phone can get, buy it when there is discount. Not worth $1300, maybe lesser $300~400 i would recommend it.

Being good or not depends usually on the reviewer on what's good enough or not for him/her.
I'm telling you, this Xperia 1 deserves to be in the top 10 best camera phones in 2019. Especially its ultra wide angle camera, which is very sharp and takes almost the same level of detail as its main camera, which is to say, beats the Galaxy Note 10+'s main one.
