QUETTA-Barrister Qazi Faez Issa took oath as Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Wednesday. Acting Governor Muhammad Aslam Bhootani administrated oath to new Chief Justice of High Court at Governor House in a simple but dignified ceremony. President Balochistan High Court, Members Provincial Assembly, senior lawyers and other prominent personalities attended the oath taking ceremony. President Aasif Ali Zardari issued the notification of appointment of Qazi Faez Issa Wednesday upon the recommendation of Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. Newly appointed Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court Qazi Faez Issa hails from Pishin town of Balochistan and his father late Qazi Muhammad Issa was close aide of founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and a leader of freedom movement. Newly appointed Chief Justice Balochistan High Court was a senior lawyer and also did his practice at Supreme Court of Pakistan. He completed his B.A. (Hons.) from London in 1981. He was called to the Bar of England and Wales from the Middle Temple in 1982. Barrister Faez Essa played an important role in preparation of environmental laws in Pakistan. Court proceedings in Balochistan on Wednesday also remained suspended as no judge was available in Balochistan High Court. All five judges of BHC including Chief Justice who had taken oath under PCO on Nov 3, 2007, had opted for early retirement apparently to avoid facing references in the Supreme Judicial Council. Sources said that after appointment of new Chief Justice in Balochistan High Court appointment of other judges would be made in the high court within few days.
