New Delhi: Punjab minister Navjot Singh Sidhu has been invited to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan’s swearing-in ceremony as the new Pakistan prime minister. And he has accepted it with joy. The former India cricketer-turned-politician has also said that Khan is “a man of character” who “can be trusted”.

Yesterday, there were reports that former cricketers Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev too were on the guest list at the big event in Islamabad. But Dev has clarified that he has not received any invite yet though he would 'be glad to go to Pakistan to attend the event'.

Today, Sidhu has called Imran Khan a “greek god” as he said, “New Delhi: We have shared a special relationship since 1983. I had heard that he was a Greek God, but when I first saw him, I felt that if there were parameters to assess looks, he was ahead of a Greek god.”

Sidhu feels happy about the invitation but the internet has mixed reactions to the development. Congress leader Rajiv Sukhla, “If he (Imran Khan) is inviting his friends in a personal capacity and I think if they go, then why should anyone object? They are entitled to go.”

One of the Twitter users said that Sidhu has brought embarrassment to the Congress party by accepting the invitation. Another user criticised, “Our soldiers are being killed by the rogue enemy nation Pak. It has not changed its stance over the last 70 years. Pak is a pain in the neck. There may be another Kargil like war after your visit/ or you may not be able to come back from there (sic)”

Another one joked about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unprecedented visit to Pakistan when Nawaz Sharif was prime minister and said, “He is invited, our PM landed uninvited to attend Pakistan PM'S family function ? ??????? (sic)”
