[Rewarded Review] Quality Not So Sturdy

Purchased this hydro flask as a gift for someone. They had it literally two days, it fell a total of two feet from where they were seated onto the floor.

It was immediately damaged.

The image that this conveys some sense of sturdiness is misleading. A simple drop at the most should have only scuffed it or scratched it. That would be expected. But a container that wasn’t even full with liquid falling approximately two feet and suffering this kind of damage is extremely disappointing.

If this is the damage if receives from just dropping it from a seated position, what good will it do when being used elsewhere for hiking or working out?

The damage this received has left me with no confidence the insides haven’t cracked or chipped, likely exposing the giftee to possible health risks.

Buyer definitely purchase at your own risk.
Rust issues and an expensive warranty

I purchased 2 of these and both of them developed rust because the stainless steel is clearly a low quality batch. My first bottle began to rust at the rim within 3 weeks, the second lasted about 4 months before rust started. The rims are getting progressively worse, and cleaning them just results in the rust coming back.

The extremely frustrating part... despite this being a manufacturing defect Hydro Flask expects me to pay to ship back the defective bottles! I bought these and provided photos to the support team, but it costs so much to mail them back that I would rather put the money towards a different product somewhere else. So disappointing, especially for a premium bottle that should last for years and years. My older HydroFlask bottles never had this issue and I hope the rest of my new ones fare better.

I’ve tried several water bottle brands (e.g., Swell, Camelbak) and HydroFlask is my favorite! I’ve used my bottle every day for over 3 years, and would highly recommend! SHAPE / USABILITY I LOVE the top handle - I bring my bottle to the gym and work and love that I can carry it on a finger while also holding other things like my phone, towels, gym equipment, etc. I like the shape of the opening and find that it is easy to clean the inner lip. I live my 21 oz size and will refill it 5-6 times between work and the gym. I’ve found if I don’t completely tighten the lid and throw a full bottle in a bag, it might spill a little, however I usually carry it empty it upright. FUNCTIONALITY The bottle is very insulating - I’ve found that it keep water cold for over 24 hours. At work I’ll fill it up and keep it open on my desk and water is still nice and cool hours later. WEAR AND TEAR Considering I’ve used my bottle every day for over 3 years, I’d say it looks fantastic! I always bring it with me to travel as well. I’ve dropped it several times (knocking it off a bench, dripping from waist high) and it’s held up pretty well. The bottom lip is slightly dented and only a tiny bit of the paint has chipped. Because I have the white color, it shows scratches and fingerprints more, but it’s not too noticeable. Would highly recommend and I’ll definitely be purchasing in more colors!

I am a LONGTIME and LOYAL fan of Hydro Flask until today.

I have had 6-8 Hydro Flasks over the last several years and have always loved them. I lost one in security while traveling internationally last month so I ordered a replacement bottle. The bottle came to me a couple of weeks ago and it has a clear manufacturing defect, every time you take a drink it sounds like a penny is stuck in the wall of the bottle.

I reached out to the company and they asked me to jump through hoops and would not make me whole on my purchase without extraordinary efforts like going out and buying a thick permanent marker to write on the bottle to evidence it is broken and then send back pictures of myself holding it with the defaced bottle in the picture.

Good work on failing to do the right thing with a loyal customer.
