Rogers 1st Grader at Top of National Drawing Contest

Rogers first grader, George Gansner, loves his drawing and contest judges agree! George was named among the "top of the top" winners in annual national drawing contest...

George Gansner, 1st grader at Rogers Elementary, was recognized this year for his drawing talent among other top winners in the "Draw a Cover for Music K-8 Magazine" contest.

Music K-8 is a magazine for music teachers and hosts a yearly contest for students to enter drawings for the next year's cover.  Amidst some stiff competition, George had an impressive first showing...

  • He placed among the TOP 20 of over 11,000 entries from students around the country, winning a certificate of recognition and a monetary prize.
  • His name and link to his drawing are featured among the TOP 2% of winners shown online at http://www.musick8.com/contest/winnerslist13.php.
  • His name and drawing are also featured in the print version of the magazine which lists the TOP 4% of winners (unlike online, it includes additional honorable mention winners, two of whom were also from Rogers Elementary).
In response to the recognition, George said, "It was awesome! I want to take lessons to get better ... and spend the money on Skylanders!".

Congratulations to this young artist who is designing the cover of the Rogers buzz book next school year - it's in good hands!
