Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Adam Wingard's Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024). The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on June 11.
Studio description: The epic battle continues! Legendary Pictures' cinematic Monsterverse follows up the explosive showdown of "Godzilla vs. Kong" with an all-new adventure that pits the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence—and our own. "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire" delves further into the histories of these Titans and their origins, as well as the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.
Once again at the helm is director Adam Wingard. The film stars Rebecca Hall ("Godzilla vs. Kong," The Night House"), Brian Tyree Henry ("Godzilla vs. Kong," "Bullet Train"), Dan Stevens ("Gaslit," "Legion," "Beauty and the Beast"), Kaylee Hottle ("Godzilla vs. Kong"), Alex Ferns ("The Batman," "Wrath of Man," "Chernobyl") and Fala Chen ("Irma Vep," "Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings").
The screenplay is by Terry Rossio ("Godzilla vs. Kong" the "Pirates of the Caribbean" series) and Simon Barrett ("You're Next") and Jeremy Slater ("Moon Knight"), from a story by Rossio & Wingard & Barrett, based on the character "Godzilla" owned and created by TOHO Co., Ltd.. The film is produced by Mary Parent, Alex Garcia, Eric Mcleod, Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and Brian Rogers. The executive producers are Wingard, Jen Conroy, Jay Ashenfelter, Yoshimitsu Banno, Kenji Okuhira.

Why is that these studios can release the 4K versions of these films but not the 3D? Another movie I'll be passing on getting until these studios start showing respect towards 3D fans. And no I don't care about this being on Apple Vision pro.
@reaper232 no company make 3D TV’s or 3D blu-ray players anymore. 3D is dead. 4K is way better and for some movies with a good 4K TV and 4K blu-ray player actually looks to be 3D.
The first 3 installments in the Monarch Monsterverse were good. Loved the less is more approach in the first. Setting the second one during the Vietnam war era was great. The 3rd gave us more Godzilla monsters. The 4th is where it lost it. Haven't seen the Apple TV show yet. But this 5th one? What the hell? The CGI looks like crap. The storyline looks like crap. Why'd this franchise take such a nose dive?
Seriously Warner Bros, if you've gotta continue with the retailer exclusive nonsense, at least distribute them through a retailer and with sufficient stock that we have a chance of finding them! Better yet, go back to including standard Blu-rays in your wide UHD releases, so everyone doesn't have to pay steelbook premiums or buy two separate copies of the films, just for peace of mind. Everyone who gets what I'm talking about should start selling or giving away their extra digital copies to send studios a message, if you're not already.
I agree, they should put everything in 1 case. That would save them money on packaging. No more DVD on their own. 4K + Blu + DVD + Digital, all in one. One packaging, should lower costs for consumers.
@Godzilla@1 - if only. The Hanna Barbera cartoon, like the showa series, has a campy charm to it. GxK is more in line with the post-Josstice League DCEU than anything Godzilla related.
100% agree with TheDean. Still releasing discs separately is as dumb as still producing DVDs for new HD (and higher) content in 2024. It's like the studios intentionally want to clutter the Earth with junk. That's not good for the environment. That they put each individual disc in it's own "Eco Case" is a level of irony that I don't think they understand :-)
People like me who have a 3D projector and 120 inch screen still enjoy 3D movies. Now if you're longing for the days of 3D television screens then yes, those days are long gone.
4dblu-the 4k is available from japan in multiple ways-steelbook etc -also available in blu-ray multiple ways-my 4k steelbook is heading to me as of a few days ago-came out may 1st
I haven't picked any of these films yet, so I might consider that 5 film boxset at some point. Some of the films are better than others in this series, but at least all are fun popcorn movies.
What's all the Netflix stuff y'all are talking about? I am in the dark, but it's maybe because I don't bother with Netflix. I liked this. I stopped buying movies like I once did because even the good ones lately, I don't find myself wanting to watch over and over. I may make an exception for this one.
Why are they showing movies in 3D in the theaters but refuse to release a 3D version on the home video market, if 3D was truly dead wouldnt they stop releasing in 3D during the theatrical run ?
Why can't they just stick with a DVD/Blu-Ray combo? Honestly, it wouldn't cost too much still. Cuz that's what I'm hoping for anyways. If not then solo Blu-ray release I'll get then.
PowerDVD has seemingly done a minor push towards supporting VR headsets and 3D content lately, but you'd think the studios would maybe invest a bit more in that area? Yes, 3DTVs have gone away, but VR is still slowly gaining adoption and I love watching the small number of 3D blus that I own on the headset. Would be a pity if Warner's finally stopped releasing 3D blu rays.
As to this movie, I still haven't seen either Godzilla this year, but more interested in Minus One after the western franchise has devolved into saturday morning cartoons at this point.
I had fun with this one in IMAX 3D, so I will be picking it up on 4K for sure. It was a good Monsterverse entry like Wingard's Godzilla vs. Kong before it. The disc should look and sound great!
