Everyone Draw Muhammad Day - Silly Sketch
I almost forgot about "Everyone Draw Muhammad Day" because I have been so busy and I was personally inclined to let the whole thing slide, until xianjaguar informed me of this FA front page message:
"Draw Muhammad Day: 5/20/2010 has been designated 'Draw Muhammad Day' by the Internet. While we do permit artistic freedom, please keep in mind that derogatory, sexual and/or outright insulting Muhammads will not be permitted. Keep them clean, respectful. Derogatory Muhammads will be removed."
Oh hell no. Considering this site's blatant ignoring or tact approval of derogatory and often downright XXX imagery of other religious icons (Jesus, the Pope, etc), and the cubporn, this isn't just attempted censorship, it is attempted censorship steeped in pure hypocrisy.
Now I am not normally the one to complain about offensive satire of religious figures, it is free artistic expression after all. I personally don't do it out of respect for friends and loved ones who may revere religious icon x, but this is where I draw the line.
So why a woman on a winged horse? Well legend says Mohammad flew to Palestine on such a horse, how do we know Mohammad wasn't a woman? We have no contemporary images after all. Oh I know, the many wives thing, Mohammad could have been a lesbian. Honestly though I think he was a man, but after 14 centuries in paradise, he got bored and had a sex change.

Well...good point. Though women can't stand the company of other women either for long periods of time, I would question why one (assuming straight) male would plop himself in the middle of a gaggle of wives. Not just women, but wiiiiiiives.

I suspect the religion got started because Mohammad always went out with the guys to get away from home and one night while drinking they came up with this really crazy idea...
Lmao..yeah..an idea that turned the middle east from the shit hole it was to a more decent place..where it ended slavery, racism, and gave women rights..even though you westerns always forget how women were treated in the middle east 1400 years ago :P
Well, more to the point I think we're still concentrating on how women are still treated today in certain places: http://www.commondreams.org/headlin.....06/1101-01.htm
That's not to say that Islam was not an improvement, or that it has no modern benefits, because it's got some great things going for it... but wherever there are people, no matter their creed or location, some of those people will always prey on each other and exercise power.

I read the article, what they're doing to the women there is totally against Islam..I know women used to be the care takers of homes and the teachers of the children back then..but times have changed. Islam is a flexible system, as long as you understand how it works..in short..if there is a way to improve, Islam is all with it.
and yes, I do agree about the statement "people, no matter their creed or location, some of those people will always prey on each other and exercise power.", That's life..we do what we can to protect and police the world..but we can only do so much at a time.

Well I am not going to argue what such and such religion did or didn't do for the Middle East or the world. This image after all isn't a criticism of Islam itself, but a reaction to certain Muslim's violent threats against people's portrayal of Mohammad. Although even that wasn't enough to inspire me originally, the FA's admin comment on the whole "Draw Mohammad Day" while ignoring really offensive art of other religious figures was too much.
I know about all the threats..I used to be such a person :s..as far as the hypocrisy that is going on..the admins need to know that if they're trying to protect Islam in a way..they aren't doing it right..Jesus was the great prophet and Muslims are obligated to protect him just as much as Mohammad, Moses and any of the other prophets..it only recently came to my attention about all the shit that's on Fa about Jesus >.<!!
Well we rather agree on why i drew this.
Just avoid doing a search for Jesus here, you may need to scrub your eyes out afterward.

Christians though haven't gone apeshit over Jesus since the crusades hundreds of years ago. Today artists do things such as put a crucifix in a jar of urine, write plays about a gay non-celibate jesus, and make a painting of the virgin Mary with elephant dung. Even the whacko Southern Baptist sects and nutjob cultish fringes haven't been going around blowing shit up or even threatening to.
Jeese..
What about the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) and Army of God (AOG) ?
I'm pretty sure there are more.

That's a bit of a generalization right there. Just sayin' ;3

Yes and no. Never said they dont group off into friends, but as a woman whose worked with other women in several job environments....fuuuuuuuck. Seriously. Damn.
Honestly I think that applies just as much to men. Men working with men and women working with men. I can't stand either sex equally! I just dislike people! ;3
I get along with men more than women, I find them more direct with their dislikes and groups. Which is funny as I was raised mostly by very independant and assertive women.
So when is draw Jesus/Mohammad/Moses/Buddha orgy day? Pope porn might have been marginally hot with some historical popes. Pope Joan vs. the Borgias maybe. But with the current one it'd be really scary!
The fact porn of the current Pope being really scary would only encourage some people I'm afraid.
How is the founder of the world's fourth largest religion ... not religious?
Buddhism is not a religion. It has traditions, like Jewish does, but does not have beliefs until you hit some of the more recent offshoots. You might as well call Philosophy a religion.
Perhaps we can say that certain 'schools' have religious qualities.
Perhaps we can say that certain 'schools' have religious qualities.
It has spirits, gods, an afterlife, reincarnation, miracles ... in what way is it *not* a religion?
All fall under one subset of people that call themselves Buddhist. Reincarnation came out of the concept of Karma, but was not part of the original Karma. Nirvana was a mental state, not a physical place. The original form of Buddhism was just a way of looking at the world without all the silly imaginary people.
If Buddha himself talked about gods, spirits, reincarnation, and the like, how can 'the original form of Buddhism' be what you say?
Buddha spoke about objects speaking. About demons and gods. About spirits.
Yes, there are many different paths of Buddhism, because the very nature of Buddhism is to follow different paths.
But the very core of Buddhism is about spirit, the soul. Buddha himself talked about all these fantastic, as you call them, 'Silly Imaginary People'. In fact, Buddhism is dead-set against such insulting terms, especially for things that many of its own paths believe in, and the Buddha talked about. It's about understanding, not about rejecting and attacking.
I find it fascinating that you would take such a negative and insulting attitude about such a positive and wonderful movement upon the world.

One of Islams teachings was Tolerance..and Mohammad himself stressed that out..I'm not mad..even though this totally caught me off guard >__>
and the story is that Mohammad flew on said horse to the aq'sa mosque in Palestine.
I do have one comment though..the sword is way too small D:<

Changed to reflect the flying to Palestine bit. Hey if Muslims can look at this and laugh, all the better. It isn't even an adult image, it is just a statement on free speech and expression.
Please show me the part about tolerance? Ancestors of mine lived in Muslim countries as dhimmis (non-muslims), and were persecuted.
I'm doing my best right now, and I don't know about your Ancestors, if they were persecuted for reasons that were unfair, I do apologize ..and I'd like to say that Islam forbids the harm of innocence and it was greatly stressed by the prophet himself..so if people who were Muslims went against that..then their to blame..not the religion or the people following it.
Hmm, odd.
Are you referring to the Jews that were in Saudi Arabia 1400 years ago?
Are you referring to the Jews that were in Saudi Arabia 1400 years ago?
No, about the Jews that were in North Africa 60 years ago, and in Yemen 25 years ago, and who are still in Iran today.
I have no knowledge of these incidents, sorry.
But Islamic law wasn't executed properly in those years, it was when governments were adopting western ways..so I do believe your Ancestors encountered a group of racist extremists.
What can I say...these things happen.
You can set rules for a community but if some individual violates those laws..It's not the fault of the community..but that individual.

This is great Brian! I'm glad your participating in the fight against that tribal, tyrannical, Misogynic cult known as Islam! This is one of many small steps to bringing it down. Good job.
JIHAAAAD!!!
... no, wait, I mean, this day is awesome for the reason you state and many others. :)

Hey, I was always a proponent of Muslims drawing something of Jesus right back. It's not like Christians don't have plenty of less then flattering things they couldn't be nailed on.
Oh the plus side, you do demonstrate a understanding of Islamic mythology with this picture. Very nice

If Muslims want to draw all kinds of images of Jesus, well I say be my guest. Free speech is free speech, and I rather have people expressing themselves through art then through violence.
Muslims can't do it..Islam forbids it..you see why they get so pissed..and it's only a few so called "Muslims" who actually resort to such things.you may have seen thousands of protesters, but how many were arrested?..all n all..there are plenty of dip shits running around looking for any stupid reason to start a fight. :P
From what I've learned, Islam forbids it because it would be equivalent/lead to worshiping the image, and thus heresy, correct?
You're referring to why we don't have pictures of prophet Mohammad :P
in that case, yes.
in that case, yes.
I like it that you drew Mohammad with a cha-cha instead of his usual swingin' dick. Especially since Islam calls for women to be treated like dogs.
Not really for two reasons : that ideaology is only recent culturally speaking and two dogs are man's best friend. you don't stone man's best friend for wearing jeans! most people would think a dog in human clothes is funny.
The ultra-women-hate conservatism is relatively knew to the Muslim relgion's ideology, before that they were as good to women as any other relgion or culture at the time. Sometimes better, depending on what century.
As in the way they treat women now barely has anything to do with Islam.

He would require the ability to shoot laser beams from his eyes.
as long as you don't consider getting incinerated by laser-eyebeams shameful
Just the way her shirt is cut off on the last letter induced a train of thought that ended with 'Mohammer would be a good name for a maul-wielding dwarf in D&D.'
Fantastic idea, just for the principle - and bonus points for plain/clean/normal images. :)
(As you can tell, I am an aspiring artiste, too!)

Heh... I think you're officially awesome(er) for taking part in this. I wish more furry artists had. Maybe if this turns into an annual thing we could all get some more of them involved next year. Very cool pic all the same too, by the way.
Was that an Islamic woman? I didn't recognize her without the body bag.
Ok, now what where you on/doing to think of this crazy idea? xD
muhammad?
...uh...
...he was some... famous guy, right?
dont know him.
