WAUKESHA – Master Z's Cue Club is something of an icon in the community. From its famous fish fry to its neighborhood atmosphere, the Grandview Boulevard spot offers something for pretty much everyone. That's why when Mike and Holly Remitz purchased the bar last year, they didn't make any changes right away. "Why mess with success?" Mike Remitz said. "Here in Wisconsin, people have a very big affinity for their bars." It's been a successful year for the Remitzes, but customer confusion with the Master Z's billiard supply store across town and the couple's desire to infuse their own style both signal that it's time for some changes. Starting next week, Master Z's will become Cue Club of Wisconsin, with new signs featuring a tuxedo- wearing pool player going up on Tuesday. "In our minds, it's not about one person, but about the atmosphere – upscale, but accessible. Not hoitytoity," Holly Remitz said. "Our prices will stay the same, but we're adding some new, healthier options to our menu like gluten-free items and salads." Holly Remitz also said she plans to include more live bands and more specials during Wisconsin sports. "These changes we're trying to make will make things better," Mike Remitz said. "This is still very much like a neighborhood bar."

Manager Cindy Becher describes the Cue Club of Wisconsin as "very Cheersish." "You could come here alone and instantly make friends. You could easily be playing pool with someone you just met," she said. Becher also said the bar will keep serving its famous fish fry. "We have one of the best fish frys in the area," she said. "It has four different choices of fish, with Cajun seasoning, waffle fries and cole slaw. It's very light and flaky." Holly Remitz did ask customers to be aware, however, that all fish frys are made to order, but the extra few minutes of waiting is worth it for the fresher product. "People can play pool or shuffleboard while they wait," Holly Remitz said. "We're a bar who happens to serve really great food."
